Shooting Australia has today announced its Athletes\u2019 Committee comprising four of Australia\u2019s highly decorated target Shooting National Squad athletes across the shotgun, pistol, rifle and para disciplines.<\/p>\n
Athletes who are currently part of the Shooting Australia National Squad in either the High Performance or Performance squad or athletes who have been part of either squad in the previous two years were eligible for nomination.<\/p>\n
This is an exciting opportunity for Catherine Skinner (Shotgun), Glen McMurtrie (Para), Sergei Evglevski (Pistol) and Jack Rossiter (Rifle) to represent the views of all the Shooting Australia National Squad Athletes and provide input to the Shooting Australia Board in respect of those views. The Athletes\u2019 Committee will also support all the Shooting Australia National Squad Athletes to succeed in both their sporting and non-sporting careers.<\/p>\n

The Athletes\u2019 Committee is also extremely fortunate to have access to an independent mentor in Deidre Fischer who is experienced in board governance both internationally and within Australia. Deidre\u2019s mantra that guides her work \u2018leaders find ways to connect with their people and develop their potential\u2019 will strongly support the work that she does moving forward with Shooting Australia and the Athletes\u2019 Committee. \u201cI am excited to be in on the ground floor and work with the Shooting Australia Athletes\u2019 Committee as we implement the processes and practices towards maximising our effectiveness.\u201d<\/p>\n
The first meeting of the Athletes\u2019 Committee, led by the independent mentor, is scheduled for December.<\/p>\n
