{"id":1340,"date":"2024-06-12T04:54:39","date_gmt":"2024-06-11T18:54:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shootingaustralia.org\/shootings-paris-olympic-qualification-period-concludes\/"},"modified":"2024-07-23T10:42:56","modified_gmt":"2024-07-23T00:42:56","slug":"shootings-paris-olympic-qualification-period-concludes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/shootingaustralia.org\/shootings-paris-olympic-qualification-period-concludes\/","title":{"rendered":"Shooting&#8217;s Paris Olympic Qualification Period Concludes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Shooting\u2019s qualification period for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games concluded over the weekend with the 9 June qualification deadline identified within the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Qualification System guidelines.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/shootingaustralia.org\/shootings-paris-olympic-qualification-period-concludes\/jack-rossiter-munich\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-11124\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-11124 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/shootingaustralia.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Jack-Rossiter-Munich.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"475\" height=\"316\" \/><\/a><em>Jack Rossiter competing in the 10m Air Rifle event at the recent World Cup in Munich, Germany.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Shooting Australia has since received confirmation from the ISSF that Australia has been allocated 12 quota places. These quotas include 2 in Women\u2019s Trap, 1 each in Men\u2019s and Women\u2019s Skeet and 1 each in the Men\u2019s and Women\u2019s Pistol and Rifle events. The ISSF has also advised that a direct athlete quota has been received by James Willett in Men\u2019s Trap based on his Qualification Ranking for the Olympic Games (QROG).<\/p>\n<p>After a very intense 6 months of domestic and international competition, the Australian Shooting athletes have now concluded the competition component of the nomination process in accordance with the Paris 2024 Olympic Nomination Criteria. Shooting Australia\u2019s focus is now to determine which eligible athletes will fill quotas, in accordance with the Criteria.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><a href=\"https:\/\/shootingaustralia.org\/shootings-paris-olympic-qualification-period-concludes\/james-willett-baku\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-11123\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-11123 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/shootingaustralia.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/James-Willett-Baku.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"420\" height=\"280\" \/><\/a>James Willett during his gold medal performance in the Men&#8217;s Trap Final at the recent World Cup in Baku<br \/>\n<\/em><em>(Photo courtesy of the ISSF)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Shooting Australia\u2019s Chief Executive Officer, Adam Sachs, says, \u201cThe Nomination of athletes to the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) for their selection to the Australian Olympic Team must be made by 24 June. This process is applicable for all Olympic quotas.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe AOC will then formalise the selection of the athletes to the Australian Shooting Team with a public announcement planned for 27 June.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are excited for the Australian Shooting Team announcement.
