Shooting Australia has today announced an 8-athlete strong team to represent Australia at the September ISSF Junior World Championships to be held in Lima, Peru.<\/p>\n\n\n

The athletes will compete in pistol, rifle and shotgun disciplines between 26 September and 7 October. Leading the team into the 2024 Junior World Championships, Shooting Australia\u2019s Performance Pathways Manager, Aurelie Gibson, says, \u201cThis year we will have strong representation across pistol, rifle and shotgun events, with new and returning athletes on the Australian team.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To be eligible for selection to this year\u2019s team, the athletes were required to not only finish at the top of the selection leaderboard, but also secure a pre-determined average performance score throughout the set performance window.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of the selection process, Gibson says, \u201cOur junior athletes have participated in a robust domestic competition selection campaign for the Junior World Championships. They have also competed in the Paris 2024 Olympic nomination events, with some athletes\u2019 performances securing their selection to the international nomination event component, competing alongside not only the Australian Olympic Team, but the world\u2019s best.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking to the junior athletes\u2019 competition opportunities so far this year, Gibson says, \u201cThe high-performance level of domestic and international competition has contributed to consistently improving the juniors throughout this year, benefiting them as we head into Peru.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our athletes will be well supported by our coaching and leadership team, and we are looking forward to good results in Lima.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Heading to her first Junior World Championships, talking to her selection, NSW Central Coast resident Ellie Rudder says, \u201cI\u2019m super excited to be representing Australia at the Junior World Championships.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also competing in the Paris 2024 Olympic nomination and selection competitions, Rudder reflects, \u201cMy confidence was at an all time high after finishing in the Top 3 for 25m pistol at the conclusion of the Olympic Trials. I knew going into these trials that if I continued to trust my process and remain confident in the training I\u2019ve done, nothing is going to stop me from achieving my dream.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The team will depart Australia on the 21st<\/sup> of September.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
