I am so proud of the significant work that has been progressed towards the evolution of Shooting’s High-Performance (HP) Program as we transition from the Paris 2024 to the LA 2028 Olympic and Paralympic cycle.

Today, I am delighted to launch Shooting Australia’s LA 2028+ High Performance Strategic Plan, which is a document that provides not only a road map to our success at the LA 2028 Games, but the foundations for our sustained success in Brisbane 2032. Our primary objective will be to develop and support more Australian athletes to achieve more finals and medals in international competitions that matter, including the Games.

SHOOTING AUSTRALIA LA 2028+ HIGH PERFORMANCE STRATEGY

As I mentioned in November, the process of developing SA’s LA 2028+ Strategy has been rigorous and engaged a range of key stakeholders from both within and outside our sport. SA’s principle high performance partner, the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS), has been heavily involved in the process including the provision of robust feedback on our proposed strategic priorities and initiatives.

The LA 2028+ Strategy builds on learnings from the Paris cycle and our Games campaigns (Olympic and Paralympic), and sets evidence-based performance targets that we can work together to achieve over the next four years. The AIS’ confidence in SA’s LA 2028+ Strategy is reflected in its decision to not only continue but increase the Federal Government’s investment in Shooting between now and LA 2028. This in turn translates to more and better opportunities and support for athletes to grow their performances and realise their Olympic/Paralympic dreams.

The LA 2028+ Strategy will focus on 5 key strategic priorities:

Performance Delivery; identify and enable our top athletes to qualify for and medal in LA 2028.

Athlete and Coach Performance Pathways; identifying, developing and supporting Shooting’s HP athletes and coaches of the future to progress towards the podium and beyond.

World Leading Knowledge and Practice; apply world-leading knowledge, innovation and practice to ensure Shooting’s athletes, coaches and performance support work as high-functioning performance teams.

Outstanding People and Organisations; building SA’s capacity and capability to attract, develop and retain diverse talent and maximise the potential of Shooting’s HP workforce.

Building the Capacity and Capability of Olympic/Paralympic Shooting; optimise opportunities for Brisbane 2032 to grow Olympic and Paralympic Shooting, infrastructure and participants.

Over the coming months, we will continue to provide more information and clarity around the LA 2028+ Strategy including how this might underpin changes to Shooting’s HP Program from the second half of 2025 onwards. This is an exciting time for our sport and will provide many opportunities for not only our athletes to engage and develop, but also coaches, officials, and the wider shooting community who play a critical role in supporting the program and our collective success at future Olympic and Paralympic Games!

I again thank everyone who contributes to the delivery of Shooting’s HP Program and look forward to bringing you along our journey towards LA 2028.

Sincerely,

Adam Sachs, Chief Executive Officer, Shooting Australia

Any questions can be directed to:

Adam Sachs, Chief Executive Officer at Shooting Australia via Email:adam@shootingaustralia.org
or via Mobile: 0417 785 115

Shooting Australia is delighted to launch its LA 2028+ High Performance Strategic Plan, which is a document that provides not only a road map to success at the LA 2028 Games, but the foundations for sustained success in Brisbane 2032.

[48

post-5035","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-media-releases
["GET
