Over the course of the last month, 8 Australian athletes have competed in back-to-back ISSF World Cups in Buenos Aires, Argentina and Lima, Peru.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The team, which consisted of one rifle athlete and 7 shotgun athletes, achieved outstanding results across both World Cup events, including two gold medals, one silver medal and seven finals appearances.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"784\" src=\"https:\/\/shootingaustralia.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Shotgun-Team-1024x784.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5064\" style=\"width:581px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/shootingaustralia.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Shotgun-Team-1024x784.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/shootingaustralia.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Shotgun-Team-300x230.jpg 300w, https:\/\/shootingaustralia.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Shotgun-Team-768x588.jpg 768w, https:\/\/shootingaustralia.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Shotgun-Team-1536x1176.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/shootingaustralia.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Shotgun-Team-600x459.jpg 600w, https:\/\/shootingaustralia.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Shotgun-Team.jpg 1600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>Across both events, Penny Smith won three medals including, an individual gold medal in the Women\u2019s Trap competition in Buenos Aires and two Mixed Trap Medals, with her teammate Mitch Iles. Smith and Iles took home silver in the Mixed Trap event at the Buenos Aires World Cup, before winning Gold in the same event just two weeks later, at the Lima World Cup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Iles also made an individual finals appearance in Buenos Aires, in the Men\u2019s Trap Competition, where he finished 6<sup>th<\/sup>. Commenting on his performance across the South American World Cups, Iles highlighted. \u201cI was very happy with my performance in qualification in Buenos Aires and made the final and shot off for bib number 1. I did not start off too well in the final and then could not make up for it, but I was really happy to shoot a good qualification score.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn Lima, I didn\u2019t do great in the individual event but was happier with my performance in the mixed team event with Penny Smith and was really pleased we came away with the gold medal.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kiara Dean also had a finals appearance, making her senior World Cup finals debut in Peru, where she finished in 6<sup>th <\/sup>in the Women\u2019s Trap Competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reflecting on the success of the Shotgun team, Shotgun Performance Coach, Renae Birgan and South American Shotgun Assistant Coach, Tom Turner, explained, \u201cWe are extremely proud of this team and their results over the two South American World Cups. The comradery and support within the team has been the backbone of their success. We\u2019ve had medallists, finalists, personal bests and performance growth within the team. It\u2019s been an outstanding start to the season and the Australian team continues to push the bar forward.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/shootingaustralia.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Shotgun-Medals.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5065\" style=\"width:601px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/shootingaustralia.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Shotgun-Medals.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/shootingaustralia.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Shotgun-Medals-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/shootingaustralia.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Shotgun-Medals-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/shootingaustralia.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Shotgun-Medals-402x268.jpg 402w, https:\/\/shootingaustralia.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Shotgun-Medals-600x400.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>Australian rifle athlete, Jack Rossiter, also made a finals appearance at the Buenos Aires World Cup, where he qualified third in the Men\u2019s 10m Air Rifle competition after shooting a score of 633.4. Rossiter finished 6<sup>th<\/sup> in the finals. Commenting on his performance across both competitions, Rossiter highlighted, \u201cI\u2019m happy with the two world cups this month. I performed on a pretty consistent level being close to making the finals in two events and making one final in Argentina.
